Topic: License Renewal Process
PG&E is in the process of applying for a 20-year license renewal. The NRC has already violated federal regulations by granting PG&E an exemption to the usual safety and environmental reviews and public hearings.
This meeting provides us with an opportunity to express our
opposition to extended operation and to the NRC’s illegal actions.
Diablo Canyon:
- is old! Construction began in the 1960s. Aging and degrading systems and components present a serious safety risk. Unit 1’s reactor vessel is believed to be dangerously embrittled.
- is situated near a web of earthquake faults.
- continues to use the now unlawful once-through cooling system which causes great harm to the local marine environment and sea life.
- would continue to generate even more toxic high level radioactive waste to be stored for an indeterminate amount of time in this active seismic zone.
Please join us at this crucial meeting, and SPEAK UP!
