APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Write an essay that contains a brief history and description of your interest and involvement in environmental, social justice, and/or peace issues. It is essential that you be able to document an on-going commitment to one of these issues, as this is the main criteria Mothers for Peace uses to choose award winners. Explain your career goals, and describe how your education and experiences will help you benefit society.
2. Obtain two letters of recommendation from people familiar with your character and potential for contributing to environmental or peace causes. While at least one letter should be from a teacher, one from a person outside of the educational setting who knows you and your involvement in issues would also be appropriate. Referents should send their letters directly to Mothers for Peace.
3. Send transcripts of your high school work to the scholarship committee.
4. Final screening will include a personal interview.
Only applications that are complete and postmarked no later than the second Wednesday in February will be considered. We are unable to return application materials, so applicants are advised to keep a copy of all materials submitted. All complete applications will be acknowledged and applicants informed of the Committee’s decisions by mail in early May. The Committee’s decisions are to be accepted as final. Mothers for Peace reserves the option of not awarding a scholarship if no applicants are sufficiently qualified.
