ICAN is the international campaign to stigmatize, prohibit, and eliminate nuclear weapons.
Based in Switzerland, ICAN is a coalition of over 600 non-governmental organizations in more than 100 countries promoting adherence to and implementation of the United Nations nuclear weapon ban treaty. Mothers for Peace is proud to be one of these partner organizations.
ICAN received the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of its work “to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons” and its “ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such weapons.”
